/// When designing Pizza Pizza, I wanted to rethink the way users interact with food ordering apps. Most existing platforms rely heavily on text-based menus, requiring users to read through small fonts and carefully check lists to ensure their order is correct. This often leads to mistakes, frustration, and a lack of engagement.
My goal was to create a more visual and interactive experience—one that makes customization intuitive and enjoyable. Instead of relying on text, I developed a real-time visual ordering system where users could see their pizzas and pastas update as they add or remove toppings. This not only enhances clarity but also makes the process fun and engaging, bridging the gap between ordering online and the in-person experience of watching a pizza being made.
I also enjoying making custom illustrations that could work seamlessly together. These illustrations were made in Adobe Illustrator and allow users to see their customizations in real-time, ensuring clarity and reducing the likelihood of errors.

Additional Items: Simplified shapes and cohesive colors represent add-ons like breadsticks and drinks, maintaining the app's clean aesthetic.

To validate my approach, I reviewed multiple food ordering apps, including popular services like Domino’s, Uber Eats, and smaller independent restaurant apps. My key findings included:
Minimal Interactivity: Most apps use static images of menu items with text-based customization, requiring users to read through details to confirm their order.
Small Font & Overloaded Menus: Many interfaces rely on fine print or dropdown lists, making it easy to overlook ingredients or customization options.
Lack of Real-Time Visual Feedback: In many cases, users don’t get a clear representation of their customized food until after they place the order, increasing the risk of mistakes.
Engagement Gap: While some apps include basic animations or simple illustrations, they don’t fully embrace interactivity as a core design principle.
These insights confirmed the need for a more engaging, visual-first approach to food ordering—one that simplifies customization, reduces errors, and enhances user satisfaction.
